Award-winning gospel singer-songwriter, Kambua Mathu, needs little introduction, with her music a mainstay on the airwaves.
The Citizen TV Rauka show presenter is living proof that although the world breaks everyone, afterwards, some emerge strong.
Speaking during her first-ever interview (with Parents Magazine) following the birth of her son, Nathaniel, the sultry-voiced singer opened up on her inspirational story.
The fact that Kambua was the main target of online trolls is an open secret, focusing primarily on the fact that she was still childless, several years into her marriage with Jackson Mathu.
"I feel like as soon as a wedding ends, there are expectations of when you will start a family and of course,society piles the pressure on the woman, especially to conceive," she disclosed during her candid interview.
She then went on to reveal how their six-year wait for a baby came to a miraculous conclusion.
Having suffered from the constant trolling, Kambua also secluded herself from most of her friends, mostly because they all had babies, and consequently, all their topics revolved around their little bundles of joy -which was too much for her at the time.
"You realise as the years go by that you have less in common to talk about because their children become the focal point of conversation. It triggered and magnified my pain," she confessed.
However, the woman of faith used this period of seclusion to reflect and resolved to involve herself in the lives of her friend's children as much as she could, without knowing that this was the start of her own miracle.
"It really healed a part of me because I loved them and they loved me back. It helped me not to break and to make peace with the fact that children come in all sorts of ways,
"I changed my prayer for God to bless me in the way that He chose to," she explained.
The celebrated singer also attributed the birth of her son -whom she fondly refers to as toto, to her husband's unwavering support during her lowest moments.
"It's normal to feel a certain level of disappointment but I'm blessed to have a very strong husband because as much as society blamed me, he carried that burden with me," she stated.
The bado nasimama hitmaker went on to explain that her inner circle played a critical role in helping her stay positive and maintain her sanity.
Several trips to her doctors always ended up with the same result, which was that nothing could be identified as the cause of their long wait.
They then resolved to look into other ways of getting pregnant, which is how she ended up at Dr. Wanjiru Ndegwa of Footsteps to Fertility - an expert who specialised infertility medicine.
However, God had other plans, because just as they had started consulting on possibilities such as egg donors and in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), her miracle happened.
"One day after the Rauka show, still feeling a little under the weather, I started thinking of the possibility of being pregnant because I had stopped keeping track of my ovulation days,
"I had become so obsessed and it was very emotionally draining. I figured it wouldn't hurt to take a test, and since we had tried so many times before, I had several test kits in the houses," she narrated.
She was so shocked to find out that the test was positive that she spent several hours just staring at the result in a mixture of disbelief and pure unadulterated joy.
She broke the news to her husband in the evening and he tried his best to contain his excitement.
Their trip to the doctors the following day confirmed her results and they were overjoyed.
"After we told her that we'd gotten a positive result, she explains that she had seen cases like ours before and that even with different fertility stories, ultimately God still works miracles," Kambua recounted her doctor's words.
The couple chose to name their toto Nathaniel, which means 'God has given, to mark their incredible miracle.
