Former K24 TV anchor Betty Kyallo on Sunday, August 2, announced the return of her show 'Upclose with Betty Kyallo'.

Before she left the Mediamax-owned station in May, Upclose was one of the station's most popular shows and featured candid interviews with well-known figures as they went about their days.

Kyallo announced that she had taken a break on her web series Betty Lately to focus on reviving Upclose with Betty Kyallo.

The new Upclose is expected to be broadcast on Betty's YouTube channel, where she has racked up over 100,000 subscribers in a matter of months.

"Betty Kyallo Lately takes a short break from tonight for a week as we shoot your all-time favourite feature Upclose with BK! It’s going to be great! It’s going to be lit as it was on TV!" the media personality and entrepreneur wrote of the new production.

Betty left some of her fans thinking she was about to return to the screen, as she also mentioned that TV was her first love and always would be.

Many fans noted that they looked forward to sampling the first episode of the renewed show which used to air on Friday nights as part of 'Weekend with Betty' on K24 TV.

Interestingly, some fans noted that they were already accustomed to watching episodes of Upclose online during its K24 TV days, explaining that it would not be a challenge to get them to watch it online.

Thanks to the star power of various guests who appeared on the show coupled with Betty's own popularity, Upclose was consistently among the trending videos in Kenya before Betty left K24 TV.

It remains to be seen whether much will change in terms of the show's production, since it had adopted a consistent 'Day in the Life' format.

Since leaving television, Betty has focused on her entrepreneurial side, moving her high-end spa and salon to a new location in the city.

She has also been busy producing content for online audiences, in what has been a trend picked up by several mainstream television and radio personalities during the Covid-19 pandemic.
