He was handed the official scarf and hat, customised with a golden band to demonstrate his love for gold often visible through the governor's sense of style and decor options.

Governor Sonko issued an order to the County Department of Youth and Education to work out a way through which the county government will be able to fund Scouts' activities.

"I wish to challenge all of us to ask ourselves how relevant the scouting movement is to the young people of today. Do we meet the aspirations of the youth?

"What is the benefit of being a scout? What lessons do we learn to help humanity? Are adults well informed and equipped to support their children who are scouts?" he posted on Facebook.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Sonko stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta had reconciled him and Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director General Mohammed Badi but some officials were still pitting them against each other.

He maintained that contratry to reports, Nairobi County had not been taken over by the military, instead, NMS and his office were in a partnership.

The governor added that despite being in a cease-fire with Badi, some officers within the NMS were still bad-mouthing him to President Kenyatta.

"The general claimed that revenue was being stolen but our revenue collector is KRA, does that mean we are stealing with them. He added that money was being diverted to a private account. He is a general and has all the machinery, the police, NIS, GSU, why doesn't he go after the account owners?" Sonko questioned.
