Top KCSE Student to Receive Brand New Car

Robinson Wanjala Simiyu, a student who appeared top in 2020's KCSE exams has received numerous gifts since Monday, May 10, when Education CS George Magoha made the announcement.

Wanjala scored 87.334 points and topped the entire class of 2020 which had 747,171 students.

Among the gifts he is set to receive is a brand new vehicle worth Ksh 500,000 which will be gifted to him by his school on the prize giving day.

Additionally, the school's teaching staff, led by the principal and his deputy have already handed Wanjala a cheque worth Ksh150,000.

The student has also received Ksh50,000 from a Murang'a High School alumnus George Mburu.

“I felt elated after receiving the good news. We are extremely proud of your exemplary performance and for raising the profile of my former school so high. You have shown us and the world that truly, putting God first, resilience and hard work pays," Mburu stated.

Wanjala looks forward to studying Medicine at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

He aspires to become a surgeon before later specialising in cancer treatment and management.

 Wasonga Allan Udoma and Sharon Chepng'eno came in second tied with 87.173 points. 

Magoha announced that the KCSE class of 2020 improved as compared to the class of 2019. 893 students scored A plain as compared to 627 candidates in 2019.

143,140 qualified to join university after obtaining the minimum grade of C+ and above. This is compared to 125,747 in 2019.
