Kenya Met Issues 7-Day Rainfall Advisory to Residents of 4 Regions

The Kenya Meteorological Department on Monday announced continued rains in a few parts of the country for the next seven days.

In its forecast, the department stated that rains were expected in the Central Highland region, Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria basin and the Rift Valley region between June 4 and June 10.

Counties under these regions include; Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, and Homa Bay.

Others are Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot.

"Sunny intervals are expected in the morning though a few areas may receive light rains. Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places occasionally spreading to several places," the meteorological department announced.

Kenyans living in the said counties were urged to be on the lookout for potential floods.

While the above counties are set to receive moderate to heavy rains, the rest of the country was predicted to remain dry.

Among counties set to experience sunny conditions throughout the week include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo.

"Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley," Kenya Met revealed.

Meanwhile, high average daytime temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in some parts of the Coastal region, North-Eastern, and North-Western Kenya.

Low average night-time temperatures of less than 10°C are expected over parts of the Central Highlands and the Central Rift Valley regions.

Additionally, strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.
