John Kiama, The Head of the County Fire Department confirmed the incident adding that their quick response was not able to salvage property lost to the raging inferno.

The Kirinyaga County Commissioner Daniel Ndege, on his part, said the investigations were underway to establish the cause of the fire.

"A passer-by who witnessed the incident called us and briefed us. We responded promptly, and the good thing is, no casualties have been recorded."

Preliminary investigations arrived at the conclusion of the fire potentially being started by some students within the school.

The unverified theory is that the motivation by the said students was to distract the school from the exams slated for Monday.

He urged parents and students to stay calm even as they handled the matter to restore normalcy in the school.

In March, a similar incident occurred at Masii Boys High School in Machakos County where a fire which was reported to have broken out at around 5:30 PM, from one of the dormitories which eventually burned down two dormitories.

During the evening incident, no casualties or fatalities were reported.

However, property of unknown value belonging to the students and school infrastructure were destroyed.

Firefighters did however manage to salvage some property and extinguish the inferno.
