The Kenya Railways Corporation has flagged as fake a job advertisement notice that claimed the corporation is hiring over 700 individuals.

In a statement on Sunday, November 23, the authority urged the public to ignore such advertisements, since it is currently not offering such positions.

The public has been encouraged to verify all job postings through the corporation's official website before making applications.

The fake letter contained all the indicators, including the corporation's logo, to make it seem legitimate.

"We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement doing the rounds on various social media platforms. We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website," the corporation said.

Some job vacancies that the fake letter had purported to be available at the corporation included Sales and Marketing Manager, Passenger Service Manager, Insurance Services Manager, Electrician, Lad Controller, and CCTV Operator.

The fake letter said that applicants were supposed to submit their application to a bogus email, which seemed not to be attached to the corporation, by November 30.

The announcement comes three days after the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) also cautioned the public over a fake job offer letter circulating online under the agency's name.

In a statement on Wednesday, November 18, the board confirmed that the job offers were illegitimate since they were fake since they were not from the board.

Anyone who received the letter was encouraged to take action by reporting the matter to the police or to the board through its official communication channels.

The agency clarified that it never sends job offers to the public via unofficial channels or asks applicants for money.

“We urge the public to exercise caution. Do not share your personal information and do not make any payments to individuals claiming to represent the Pharmacy and Poisons Board,” the agency stated.

"These messages are not from the Board. Do not share your details or make any payment. Report any suspicious activity immediately to law enforcement," it added.
