The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Geoffrey Ruku, and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire have claimed a plot to intimidate voters in Mbeere North in areas they claim to be strongholds of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
The Kenya Kwanza leaders said this during a press briefing held on November 26, 2025, where they accused the united opposition of planning to orchestrate violence during the Thursday by-elections.
"Their plan is to disrupt the voting tomorrow, we know they are focusing on our strongholds, in the areas where our UDA candidate is strong. They want to ensure that when it gets to a certain time tomorrow, voting stops," the Embu governor claimed.
The leaders criticized the United opposition in their allegations, saying that the opposition cannot intimidate voters to vote in their favor. Governor Mbarire further claimed that investigative officers are on the radar of the goons allegedly deployed by the opposition.
In the briefing, the leaders assured the Mbeere North residents that the government shall provide adequate security to all voters during the by-elections.
CS Ruku also claimed that the united opposition is engaging in voter bribery ahead of the elections.
"We want also to condemn the voter bribery going on at Kanyombora, Ishiara, and several other areas led by the opposition," the CS alleged.
The leaders have called upon the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to enforce the code of conduct and ensure free and fair elections in Mbeere North.
CS Ruku and Governor Mbarire also urged the residents to maintain peace during the elections.
The Kenya Kwanza leaders expressed their confidence in their candidate winning the Mbeere North seat.
