Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested a murder suspect following days of a manhunt and recovered a firearm and stolen property.

The DCI on Sunday, December 21, disclosed that detectives from Dandora and Shaurimoyo estates in Nairobi cornered the suspect along Gallole Street in Eastleigh.

A quick search of the suspect resulted in the recovery of a Retay Falcon pistol, a complete, unfired cartridge designed for a 9mm calibre firearm, and a spent cartridge of similar calibre.

During the impromptu operation, the detectives also impounded a red motorcycle, which the DCI officers believe could have been stolen.

"The suspect is currently in custody as investigators finalise processing ahead of his arraignment in court," the detectives revealed.

The move follows days of a manhunt for the suspect, accused of murder in Dandora, who was cornered after a tip-off and forensic evidence traced his location.

The suspect's arrest also comes on the back of a surge in murder cases, particularly in major towns, including Nairobi and Mombasa. This is despite the ongoing operation to curb the menace.

Just a day ago, detectives in Kisauni Sub-County arrested two individuals connected to the brutal murder of a middle-aged man on November 22, 2025, in Chembani, Mtopanga, Mombasa.

The suspects were flushed out of their hideout and arrested following a tip-off from members of the public who informed the officers about the duo's whereabouts.

The duo are said to have assaulted the victim, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Coast General Hospital by a good Samaritan, but succumbed while receiving treatment.

Likewise, on December 15, DCI officers in Kirinyaga East arrested two prime suspects linked to the brutal murder of a 72-year-old woman.

The elderly woman's lifeless body was discovered on December 14, 2025, in a secluded thicket in Kegua village, Kerugoya East Sub-County.

Responding swiftly, the police arrived at the scene and found the deceased half-naked, with visible injuries to her forehead. Among the items recovered at the scene were her duplicate ID card, an ATM card, and a mobile phone.

The body was removed to Kibugi Funeral Home for preservation and autopsy. A manhunt was launched, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old and a 35-year-old.
