The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has unveiled a list of contact numbers to assist students, parents and teachers facing challenges in accessing the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results.
In a brief note shared by KNEC on Friday, January 9, moments after releasing the KCSE exam results, the council advised those facing problems to share their queries.
The toll-free lines are 0800721410 and 0800724900, while the non-toll-free numbers are 0796975104, 0796974984, 0796975132, 0796974985, 0797147335 and 0797146835.
According to KNEC, the aforementioned lines would be operational throughout the day, with learners and parents urged to share their concerns anytime.
"For any results-related queries, our Call Centre is open 24/7. You can reach us on the above telephone lines," the examination council wrote on its X account.
The announcement follows widespread uproar from a section of Kenyans after the sudden outage of the KNEC portal, which has left thousands of Kenyans stranded.
A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that the portal went down at around 11.30am, just moments after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the results.
The CS on Friday morning announced that individual candidates’ examination results would be accessed online through a link on the KNEC website or directly through the results.knec.ac.ke
Candidates and parents were required to key in their index numbers along with one of their names as exactly as captured in the registration details for the 2025 KCSE examination.
"The results will be live and accessible immediately after the end of this function. It is now my humble duty and privilege to declare the 2025 KCSE examination results officially released," Ogamba said.
This is not the first time the portal has experienced downtime during the release of KCSE results. A similar incident was witnessed last year during the release of the 2024 national examination results.
The challenge has often been attributed to massive traffic, as thousands of Kenyans access the portal. In 2023, the Ministry of Education introduced the online portal to reduce problems faced by Kenyans using SMS.
