Miguna Miguna's Running Mate Karen Wangenye Steps Down

Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna has suffered a blow after his running mate stepped down.

Karen Wangenye bolted out of the hotly contested race just nine days to the August 8 General Election.

Addressing the press on Saturday morning, she cited poor working relationship with Miguna as a reason for her decision.

She clarified that there was no bad blood between the maintaining that she still believed in Miguna's ideas to transform the City.

“Unfortunately, I’m here today to let the public know that I would like to resign from that position. Not that I do not believe in the cause; in fact, I very much believe his ideas are exactly what we need to implement to make Nairobi the green city in the sun once more,” she stated.

Ms Wangenye stated that she decided to walk away after realising that the two were not compatible and could not effectively work as a team.

She described her actions as just a normal fall out because she was not comfortable with Miguna's ways of addressing issues.

"Let it be known that I have nothing against the Governor and I wish him well. All I’m saying is that we are not compatible and I’m not in a position to work with his methods of addressing issues. Hence, if a team is not compatible, then it is not fit to run a high government office,” she added.

In June, Miguna dumped his former running mate James Gathungu, two weeks after appointing him, after which he picked Wangenye.
