How International Media Have Exaggerated About Violence After Kenya's 2017 Election

International media houses have painted a grim picture of Kenya, post-election, with alarming headlines that claim violence has erupted in the country.

Picking a cue from the Mathare protest where two people were shot, the news sites have declared that Kenya has "erupted in violence".

One New York investment finance news website, valuetalk.com, has gone so far as to state that Kenya has gone back to the 2007 post-election violence.

The headline read: "Kenya Election Sends It Back To Deadly 2007 Days."

The headlines also conveyed that it is the Opposition leader Raila Odinga's hacking claims that had sparked the alleged violence.

The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate alleged that hackers accessed the elections system through passwords that were obtained from the late IEBC ICT boss Chris Msando.
