Civil Society Group to Move to Supreme Court to Challenge Uhuru Kenyatta's Re-election

The Civil Society group is set to move to court to challenge the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

The group has announced that it will on Tuesday file a petition at the Supreme Court following the declaration of President Kenyatta as the winner of the concluded presidential race.

The case could now derail the swearing in ceremony of the Head of State for his second and last term in office which was set to be done on August 29.

According to the law, the President-elect and his deputy are to be inaugurated on the Tuesday following the 14th date of the declaration of presidential election results, if no petition is filed.

This comes after the National Super Alliance (NASA) declared that it would not file any case since it did not believe in getting justice.

The Opposition whose flag bearer Raila Odinga lost to Kenyatta but dismissed the results which it claimed were interfered with and numbers manipulated to favour the Jubilee Party.

They criticised the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for failing to act on the complaints the Alliance raised regarding the management of the polls.
