Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi who was recently sworn into office has sent home all the senior officials in the County.
Murungi on Tuesday asked all the County Executive Committee (CEC) members, the County Secretary, Sub County, Ward and Town Administrators to go on indefinite leave.
The Governor has made the decision to allow for a fresh and detailed financial audit of the county resources.
At the same time, he called on the Auditor General to conduct a special audit of all the departments.
He also suspended Public Service board chair Patrick Gichunge who is facing charges in court until his case is heard and determined.
Governor Murungi is one of the county bosses who have taken radical measures suspending some of the officials immediately after taking over office.
A day after being sworn in, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua sent more than 437 officers from the finance department on leave.
