President Uhuru Kenyatta Sends Raila Odinga Message After Calls for Resignation

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent an urgent message to Opposition leader Raila Odinga after he (Odinga) called for the resignation of Kenyatta over allegations that he was not duly elected.

Speaking at Kapkatet grounds in Kericho County, President Kenyatta noted that he was ready for a repeat election and urged Mr Odinga to do the same.

He took a swipe at Odinga's remarks directing the IEBC on the election dates noting that the former Prime Minister had no powers to direct the Commission.

"You don't have any power to decide on anything. You're a candidate my brother, you're not the President," Kenyatta stated.

Regarding the former Prime Minister's call for the postponement of the National exams, the Head of State asked the ODM Party leader to "stop joking with our kids".

The President urged KCPE and KCSE candidates to ignore comments by Mr Odinga, assuring them that they will sit for their exams as scheduled.

"Our children will do their exams on time as earlier planned the elections will not interfere with exams timetable," the President explained.

He further accused his opponent of planning to have a coalition government.

Kenyatta, however, noted that he would not share power with the NASA leader explaining that anyone who wants to be President must go through the ballot.

" Mr Raila, there will be no coalition government, if you want to be President you must go through the ballot and let the people decide," he stated.

Addressing the electoral agency, President Kenyatta mentioned that the Commission was an independent body which should not be directed by any leader.

He urged them to desist from sideshows and put in place measures to ensure Kenyans vote on October 17, 2017.

"We don't want sideshows, do your job. Prepare yourselves to allow Kenyans elect their preferred candidate on the election date," he submitted.

Earlier on Odinga, called upon President Kenyatta to resign following a leaked memo from IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

"We just want to urge Jubilee to do the right thing. If I were Uhuru Kenyatta, looking at what has transpired I would just resign and let this thing go," Odinga stated in respect to Chebukati's memo.
