NASA Explains Lootings In Kisumu

The Orange Democratic Movement has distanced itself from the looting of a supermarket and destruction of water supply pipes in Kisumu on Friday during National Super Alliance protests.

The Party's Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen claimed the looting spree was part of a plan to delegitimize the Anti-IEBC demonstrations and that the absence of law enforcement officers was deliberate.

In a statement released by the party, he called for speedy investigations into the incident and reiterated that it was the duty of the police to protect property.

He stated: "The deliberate and conspicuous absence of the police as this incident happened points to an unacceptable complicity and choreography for which the local police leadership must come out clean."

He went on to add, "This is more critical than their obsession with throwing tear gas and meting ruthless brutality on innocent and law-abiding citizens."

NASA protesters forced their way into Tumaini Supermarket and made away with various items from the store's shelves.

Employees who attempted to stop the violent protests failed, with a number of them sustaining injuries.

The store's windows were also smashed by the protesters.

Police eventually arrived on the scene where they lobbed tear gas canisters and shot in the air to disperse the large group of protesters.

Water cannon trucks and Land Cruisers forced the violent protesters to flee the area.
