Kenyans were on Tuesday engaged in various heated discussions that majorly focussed on the fresh presidential poll set to take place on Thursday.

One of the top trending topics on social media platforms was the Gazette notice by acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i declaring Wednesday a public holiday.

Under the topics Public Holiday and CS Matiang'i, netizens shared their reactions to the announcement that had initially been dismissed as fake news.

More hilarious comments entailed asking the Interior CS to declare more days as public holidays. @vinniev14 Tweeted: "October 28 is someone's birthday will it be a public holiday."

Uhuru Park

Uhuru Park was a trending topic on Tuesday after the National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters clashed with the police in the Nairobi City Centre.

NASA leaders had announced that the anti-IEBC protests would resume on Tuesday after a short hiatus, a call to which their followers heeded.

Protests were witnessed in Kisumu County as well as in Nairobi where police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse the crowds.

Under the #TheHomestretch tag, K24 engaged its viewers in various debates including a discussion over NASA leader Raila Odinga's withdrawal from the presidential race.

The topic trended as the IEBC announced it expects the last batch of presidential election ballot papers to arrive in the country on Tuesday at 6 pm.

The ballots are scheduled to be collected from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and ferried to IEBC warehouses awaiting dispatch.
