New Report Reveals How President Uhuru Kenyatta's Votes Were Subtracted

Civil societies have revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s total votes in the repeat presidential election were subtracted by 100,000.

In their report, the groups under the Kura Yangu, Sauti Yangu (My vote, My Voice) banner, stated that IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati got the figures of three presidential candidates wrong in the final declaration.

The team added President Kenyatta’s votes were 7,583,895 instead of the 7,483,895 announced by IEBC, and 100 votes and 10 votes were subtracted from Ekuru Aukot and Abduba Dida's votes respectively.

The team also faulted the electoral commission's voter register claiming that it lacked a definitive number of registered voters.

They further stated that the total number of votes cast totaled to 7,716,107 instead of the 7,616,217 figure announced by Mr Chebukati.

The group noted that it had deployed 2,000 observers in 44 counties to monitor the repeat presidential election.

The team stated: “We noted unexplained differences between the biographic and biometric lists of voters, unexplained increases in the register after registration closed, the presence of over a million dead voters in the final register and serious data gaps in the reference documents used to create the register.”

“That total is not the total of all votes cast. It is actually the sum total of his announcement of candidates’ aggregate valid votes. Using his individual county results, the total number of valid votes is 7,716,107,” they added.

Last week Deputy President William Ruto stated that 7.5 million Kenyans turned up to vote in the repeat presidential election.

DP Ruto noted that 91 percent of Kenyans who voted for President Kenyatta in the nullified August election turned out to vote again in October.
