NASA Chief Strategist David Ndii Arrested

National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief Strategist David Ndii has been arrested.

According to reports, Ndii was arrested on Sunday evening at Leopard Beach Hotel in Kwale County and was taken to Diani Police Station.

Raila Odinga's spokesperson Dennis Onyango broke the news via his Twitter handle and stated that Ndii was being targeted for his role in the People's Assembly.

"One Mr Aleng Peter Gimwani, Service. No 234336 from the Flying Squad and five officers picked Dr David Ndii a few minutes ago from Leopard Beach Hotel in Kwale.

"Alenga told Ndii's wife that they are taking him to Diani Police Station but Ndii is not at Diani," stated Mr Onyango.

It was later reported that police went back to Ndii's hotel room to search for laptops together with his wife but did not find anything.

On Friday, NASA announced a list of seven people who will facilitate secession and coordinate the People's Assembly.

Speaking at Okoa Kenya offices, former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale stated that the coalition had set up an organizing committee whose duties will be to facilitate and guide the People's Assembly.

“We have put a team in place that will be tasked with guiding, facilitating and coordinating activities of the People’s Assembly at the county level,” Dr Khalwale stated.

The former Kakamega Senator named Dr Ndii, Judy SijeniHamid KibwanaMutaha Kangu, Dr Oduor OngenKoitalet Ole Kina and Peter Mathuki.

The arrest of Ndii was met with sharp criticism from various quarters, as several leaders and activists condemned his arrest.

Activist Boniface Mwangi described Ndii as a patriot who loves, supports, and defends his country and demanded his immediate release.

Lawyer Nelson Havi echoed similar sentiments saying,"We hope you have a bona fide sustainable charge against David Ndii.

"We will not plead, but shall demand his release and take remedial action."
