President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday evening travelled to Mombasa using Madaraka Express train.
Being his second time to board the train since its launch, the Head of State was accompanied by former Ghananian President John Mahama.
The President and his guest arrived at Syokimau railway station in a modest fleet of vehicles and not many people knew of their presence at the 3pm train.
Mr Mahama became the 2nd high profile guest to travel on the train.
Also using the SGR to the same destination was Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru who surprised the passengers who never expected her arrival.
The leaders took to social media at different times, posting updates about their official travel plans.
The two were headed to Coast to attend the Governor's conference scheduled to begin on Thursday in Kwale County.
Kenyatta is expected to open the first governors and their deputies retreat at Diana Reef Hotel in Kwale.
Area Governor Salim Mvurya is confident of becoming the council's boss as is expected to be endorsed by his Jubilee counterparts.
"I was the deputy chairperson of the Council of Governors for two terms, therefore, I bring in a lot of experience," he noted.

Reports indicate that Governor Waiguru could be the likely person to be appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Governors.
Former chairpersons of the council Mr Isaac Ruto and Peter Munya had been at odds with the Jubilee regime which they accused of stifling devolution.
