Lawyer Nelson Havi to Sue Law Society of Kenya [VIDEO]

Lawyer Nelson Havi has maintained that he is still in the race for the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Presidency and has promised to sue the society after he was disqualified from the race.

In a letter addressed to Havi, the Society had declared that Havi was ineligible for the post as he had not attained 15 years in Practice from his date of admission into the bar.

Havi has decided to head to the courts, insisting that he will be on the ballot on the day of the election.

In a video released on Saturday, Havi stated: "We want to revamp the society to ensure that the law society is taken back to the position in which it was.

"We cannot have the law society being embedded and interfered with by partisan interests," he declared.

He further promised his supporters that he would be on the campaign trail even as he pursued legal action against the society.

"Be assured that Havi's name will be on the ballot, God-willing," he declared.

Havi had applied to be LSK President as the term of incumbent Isaac Okero was set to come to an end.

He had already questioned the credibility of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) which is supposed to carry out the LSK election.

In an earlier conversation with Kenyans.co.ke, Havi stated that 'more than half of the lawyers' did not have faith in the IEBC and demanded that an audit firm conduct the poll.
