Millie Odhiambo Tells Off US Over Raila's Swearing-in

Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo on Thursday rebuked the United States (US) for issuing a warning to National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga over his planned swearing in as the People's President.

The legislator took to social media to express her displeasure with the US after they issued a statement regarding the swearing in plan on Tuesday through acting Secretary of State for African Affairs, Donald Yamamoto.

The lawmaker alleged that the US was threatened by a Raila Odinga Presidency as it would not be good for their businesses in Kenya.

"When you hear them telling Jakom to think about his legacy, they are merely saying your swearing in is not good for America's business in Kenya- especially the multibillion contract rumored to have been negotiated," noted Ms Odhiambo.

She then condemned the US for advising the oposition boss not to swear himself in since as it would not be good for his legacy.

“If they were actually bothered about Jakom's legacy, they would have spoken at the point the police were swatting our supporters like flies. The only legacy of concern to me right now is Legacy Bookshop run by Aoko Midiwo my good friend,” posed Ms Odhiambo.

In his statement, Mr Yamamoto highlighted that Raila would only be destroying his impeccable legacy of reforms by being controversially sworn in.

Mr Yamamoto added that the US was already working towards bringing Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta to the table for dialogue on political and electoral reforms.

Previously, Yamamoto had reiterated that the United States would unleash unspecified sanctions against the NASA leaders if they went through with their plans to be sworn in by the People’s Assembly.

The opposition brigade on Sunday announced that they intended to see Raila Odinga sworn in before 2017 was over if only to end electoral injustices in Kenya.
