National Resistance Movement Announces its Plan for Sunday

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) wing of the NASA coalition has announced plans to hold a People's Assembly convention in Kakamega County on Sunday, January 7, 2018.

A member of the steering committee, Mr Oduor Ong'wen, conveyed that the event would mark the beginning of the movement's activities of the year.

"This Sunday, we head to Western Kenya to continue with the people-driven initiative to ensure electoral justice and self-determination in our country.

"The details of the program and nature of events to be held in Kakamega will be disclosed by the NASA leadership in Western Kenya," the ODM Executive Director stated.

He added that other regions of the country will hold similar forums during the month of January.

Mr Ong'wen further stated that the date for the inauguration ceremony would be set by the assemblies.

"The other regions will convene similar forums in the course of this month.

"The end result will be the inaugural National People’s Convention at a date the people themselves shall decide," he reiterated.

NRM's statement confirmed reports that had earlier circulated indicating that the swearing-in of NASA leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka had been pushed forward.

"We are of course alive to the fact that the public is very eager to hear about the swearing in of the People’s President and Deputy President. This is on course. It will be the biggest public event that Kenya has seen since independence.

"An Assumption of Office Committee, which is already in place and working will be unveiled in the coming days, and that Committee will be keeping you informed," the NRM statement concluded.
