Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has assured Deputy President William Ruto that Mt Kenya region will rally behind him in the 2022 elections.
Kuria was responding to Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu who had earlier stated that Ruto is not a sure bet in the next election.
Speaking after a Sunday service at Our Lady of Consolata Cathedral in Nyeri Town, Kuria stated that Ruto is the right person to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We are not supporting William Ruto because we are being forced to or blackmailed. We are supporting him because he is the right person.
“I want to tell my friend Ngunjiri that this is not the time for political sideshows. We should be focusing on recovering time we lost last year,” he stated.
The two had engaged in a social media discussion where Wambugu remarked that it was too early to discuss succession.
“As a Mt Kenya voter my personal vote for President will go to the person who has committed themselves to ensuring President Kenyatta's legacy is delivered, established & secured, and especially during this, his second term, guarantees unconditionally to all Kenyans (but of course I am biased to especially those from Mt Kenya) that we can live and work anywhere in Kenya without fear that our political choices could mean death or destruction of property to us or our loved ones..." stated Ngunjiri.
“Essentially what I’m saying is that whereas I agree with MK (Moses Kuria) on some things, I disagree with others.
"Most importantly, in 2022 my vote will not depend on betrayal or paying debts; there's no such thing in politics. So my vote and for those that I can influence will depend on the points above. Period," he reiterated.
This comes after word went round that the President and his deputy had fallen out, allegations that were quickly dismissed by Ruto's communication team.
The DP also rubbished the talk stating that it was the right of the President to bring together a team he wanted to work with and as such no one should deny him that.
He warned Jubilee Party members against politicising the issue of cabinet nominees and linking it to 2022 adding that the aim of the government now is to deliver its promises to the Kenyan people.
