Uhuru Orders Withdrawal of NTSA Officers From All Roads

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday ordered all NTSA officials to leave Kenyan roads.

Mr Kenyatta stated that the officers should leave the duty of manning roads to traffic police.

He was speaking in Meru during the burial of African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) bishops who were killed in a horrific car crash.

The President also urged drivers to exercise caution on roads and pleaded with passengers not to complain of getting late but focus on reaching their destinations safely.

The 3 Bishops were killed in a serious road accident that occurred on the Embu-Makutano road in Kirinyaga County on December 29.

Bishop Philip Kubai, chairman of bishops synod from Ntonyiri Diocese, Bishop Moses Ntoreruri of Igembe Diocese and Bishop Stanley Kalulu from Igembe Central Diocese were killed in the accident at Mutithi area.

The accident happened when their saloon car collided head-on with another vehicle at Wamumu on the Embu Makutano road.

During the burial ceremony, Deputy President William Ruto also passed his condolences to friends and family of the affected.

This was the first time the President and the DP had attended a function together since the announcing of the new cabinet.

There were reports that the two had fallen out but over the weekend Mr Ruto rubbished those reports urging leaders to focus on matters related to development.
