My Life in Danger Over Case Against Governor Alfred Mutua - Wavinya Ndeti's Lawyer

A lawyer representing former Machakos Gubernatorial Candidate Wavinya Ndeti in a case challenging the election of Governor Alfred Mutua's election has complained that his life is in danger.

Through an affidavit, Ham  Lagat, claimed that police officers stormed his Kileleshwa home and threatened his family for presenting crucial evidence in the petition against Governor Mutua.

He told the court that he was also harassed by the Machakos Director of Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) and other Police officers after he filed an affidavit in court.

Mr Lagat explained that shortly after he presented the documents on December 11, 2017, the county criminal investigations officer visited his residence in the company of Flying Squad operatives.

He indicated that it was there that they threatened his family to the effect that they will face dire consequences.

In his orders, High Court Judge Justice Roselyne Aburili restrained the DPP and DCIO from taking any action against Ms Ndeti's lawyer.

She issued the order prohibiting the prosecution of the lawyer who commissioned affidavits in support of a petition against the Machakos Governor.

The judge directed police to desist from carrying out any investigations until the matter before the court is heard and determined.

She stated that the continued harassment of the advocate by the Machakos DCIO and other police officers ought to stop.
