Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has been forced to use advanced technology platforms to issue directives on the running of the county government.
Nyong’o left the country in December for the United States (US) where he is recuperating after undergoing a hipbone surgery at the University of California Hospital in San Francisco.
The Kisumu boss held his first teleconferencing call on Tuesday where he was given updates on development programme carried out in different county departments.
“The briefing was important because the Governor needs to be updated that the county is running smoothly even in his absence,” County Secretary Olang’o Onudi stated.

According to Mr Onudi, Govenor Nyong'o has been actively following local administrative issues from local WhatsApp groups.
The Standard quoted a source close to the Governor highlighting: “There is also an active WhatsApp group that we use also to update the Governor and also get briefings.”
In one of the local dailies, Nyong'o mentioned that he is recuperating well following the surgery. He also disclosed that due to the constraints of the campaigns and election calendar, he had been surviving on painkillers regularly by his pain management doctor.
"Many may have observed me limping from time to time as we struggled for the betterment of our county and country. Without going into much details, I have all along been waiting for an opportune moment for the hip replacement surgery as the last solution to my problem," Nyong'o added.
The Lake-city boss also castigated unnamed individuals who had used his medical condition to spread malicious rumours against him.
Last week, former Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga accused Senator Fred Outa and county speaker Onyango Oloo of undermining Nyong'o's leadership and linked them to Jubilee.
