NASA Unveils New Plan to Save Alfred Keter

National Super Alliance (NASA) lawmakers have been ordered to boycott committee meetings to be held on Tuesday where the main agenda will be the removal of Chairmen of four House Committees led by Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills).

Minority Chief Whip Junet Mohammed, in a letter to NASA legislators, informed them not to show up for the meetings as they had already exercised their mandate by electing the committees' leadership.

"You are hereby advised not to participate in the said meetings which have been called for the sole purpose of removing the leadership of those committees," Junet wrote.

He further described the vote of no confidence as a Jubilee affair and declared that NASA would not be party to the removal of legally elected representatives.

National Assembly Minority leader John Mbadi had previously stated that NASA would back the rebel MPs who are accused of failing to toe the party line.

He noted that their role to oversight the executive was threatened by interference from State House.

"They cannot perform that role under an environment characterized by threats and intimidation," Mbadi stated.

The four lawmakers; Keter, Silas Tiren (Moiben), David Bowen (Marakwet) and Alex Kosgey (Emgwen) have been summoned by both President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Willam Ruto and ordered to resign.

The chairmen have, however, remained adamant that they will not vacate office.

"They de-whipped us, now it's a vote of no confidence. Which is which?" Keter recently posed.

The committees have 19 members, with Jubilee having 12 seats compared to NASA's seven.
