NASA's Latest Action to Ensure Removal of Ambassador Robert Godec

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has organized demonstrations at the US Embassy in Nairobi in a bid to pile pressure and oust US Ambassador Robert Godec.

According to a statement, NASA urged its supporters to turn up at the Embassy located in Gigiri suburb for peaceful mass protests on Friday morning.

The demonstrations are against what the Opposition terms as interference by Ambassador Godec in the Kenyan political affairs.

"We urge all patriots to participate in our peaceful anti-American interference demo outside the US Embassy today," tweeted the Alliance.

NASA has expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of Godec following earlier allegations of being partisan in favour of the government.

An earlier statement made by Ambassador Godec alongside other 11 Ambassadors and High Commissioners to Kenya scolded Opposition leader Raila Odinga over what they called deliberate disregard of the Constitution.

In particular, the envoys were displeased with Odinga swearing himself in as the 'People's President' and urged him to recognize the legitimacy of Uhuru Kenyatta's government.

However, Odinga retaliated by cautioning the envoys against interferring with the Kenya affairs noting that they had no mandate to lecture Kenyans on who their leaders should be.

On Thursday, NASA MPs backed up these calls by Odinga claiming that Godec had political and commercial interests in Kenya and was not for democratic governance.

Godec, however, denied these allegations indicating that the statement by the envoys was impartial having also rebuked the government for attempting to suppress the media, violation of human rights and the controversial deportation of lawyer Miguna Miguna to Canada.

He maintained that the claims are “completely and totally false" further noting that dialogue should be established to address corruption and reforms in the security sector.

“There needs to be a conversation around protecting institutions - the IEBC, the Judiciary - and strengthening them," he concluded.
