NASA Leader Raila Odinga Travels to Zimbabwe

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga left the country on Monday afternoon.

Odinga travelled to Zimbabwe to attend the burial of the country's former opposition leader, the late Morgan Tsvangirai, who he described as a brother.

"On my way to Buhera, Zimbabwe, to attend the burial of my dear late brother MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai; which is taking place tomorrow," wrote Odinga on his official Twitter account.

Unknown to many, Tsvangirai had links to Kenya and was a close ally of Odinga.

In July 2017, Tsvangirai met Odinga in Kenya and later told Zimbabwean media that they had agreed to form a global coalition to deal with electoral fraud.

“We traveled to Kenya to build a global coalition against manipulation of elections, not just in Zimbabwe, but the whole African continent," he stated.

Odinga eulogised the late Tsvangirai as a man who dared to dream and fought for democracy up to his demise after a long battle with colon cancer.

"I have learnt of the passing of former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai with deep sorrow. Morgan dared to dream of democracy, freedom and justice for his country and his people despite the firm hands of dictatorship that held sway.

"I pray that the party he founded, the MDC, will hold firm and pursue the ideals he lived for.

"My family, our party the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the National Super Alliance join Mr. Tsvangirai’s family, the MDC and the people of Zimbabwe in mourning his death," he wrote.
