NASA MPs to Boycott Vetting of Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Nominees

Members of Parliament (MPs) affiliated to the National Super Alliance (NASA) will on Wednesday boycott a Parliament session where nominees to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will be vetted.

National Assembly Minority Whip, Junet Mohamed, instructed the seven members of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee not to turn up for the vetting of President Uhuru Kenyatta's three nominees.

Following the decision by the Opposition MPs, the nominees will most likely sail through to join the JSC as they appear before the panel of Jubilee legislators.

The three are former National Assembly clerk Patrick Gichohi, former Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Olive Mugenda and former Cabinet Secretary Felix Kosgei.

"We are not here just to make noise in certain committees and in certain meetings and bring out issues that this person has stolen this, has not gone through school properly then at the tail end you play the numbers card on us!" MP Junet lamented.

Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula added: "As NASA we have taken a position, we did not participate in the vetting of the CSs and we will not participate in this."

Following the boycott of CS vetting, the parliamentarians walked out of the House when a report was tabled in the House for voting and approval.

The leaders continue to resist President Kenyatta's nominees and his administration only acknowledging NASA co-principal Raila Odinga as the people's President.

Principal Secretaries from various ministries will also be facing various Parliamentary Departments to be vetted on Wednesday and Thursday.

Some NASA MPs had indicated that they would attend panels vetting the PS nominees.
