Why Uhuru & Raila Working Together Will Help DP Ruto in 2022 - Murkomen

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Sunday disclosed that Deputy President William Ruto was going to be the biggest beneficiary of the partnership between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during a panel discussion with Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma on Citizen TV's Sunday Live, the Senate Majority leader stated that the Uhuru-Raila pact was an idea whose time had come and the DP was supportive of it.

"The biggest beneficiary of the handshake is William Ruto because he formed ODM with Raila and he is currently working under President Uhuru. Having worked with both and shown his support publicly, he stands to gain most in 2022," he explained.

He added that the Jubilee party was focussed on delivering on President Uhuru's Big 4 plan.

"We cannot pretend to have been in that meeting, but as Jubilee, we had already agreed that we would not engage in politics till 2022 so we could concentrate on delivering the Big 4," he added.

On his part, Kaluma stated that the Uhuru- Raila pact made him change his stand on secession.

"I was among those calling for the separation of this country as I felt some issues we wanted to be addressed were not being looked into. I changed that stand after the Uhuru- Raila pact.

"There will be normal political contests based on the handshake and dialogue. Let us be tolerant to leaders who may be cautious in engaging with their counterparts," the ODM MP conveyed.

He stated that the relationships that were broken, within parliament by Jubilee and Nasa members were being mended.

"Based on the issues, people expected the pact to be implemented fast. Personally, I am not concerned with the pace. Statehouse spokesperson has told us that our leaders are on course. Let us wait," he explained.
