A team from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was on Friday morning turned back from a meeting with the Senate Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee.
The committee cancelled the meeting last-minute after they failed to reach a quorum attendance to conduct the hearing.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and his team had been summoned by the committee to explain the events that led to the suspension of CEO Ezra Chiloba and the resignation of three commissioners on April 16.
The IEBC official handle tweeted: "We were on our way to honour an invitation by Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights for a meeting this morning when they called to call it off."

The Friday meeting was set up after the IEBC representatives failed to show up on Wednesday for a similar meeting at the National Assembly.
"The commission writes and regrets that it is unable to honour the invitation as it is today engaged in two by-elections in Ruguru and Kinondo county assembly wards.
"The commissioners and senior staff are supervising the same. We kindly request that you reschedule today’s sitting to a later date," stated a letter addressed to the Chair of the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs committee Mr William Cheptumo.
Mr Chebukati was also scheduled to appear at the committee meeting with the remaining commissioners Prof. Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu.
The teams were also scheduled to discuss matters pertaining to electoral laws review in time for the 2022 General Election.
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale conveyed a plan to ensure that the remaining commissioners are given a smooth transition out of the commission and new operatives are hired.
