Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) on Friday warned parents against buying a certain Kiswahili Primary School textbook.
Posting on their Twitter page, KICD noted: "Parents don't buy any book. Go for KICD approved books to avoid pirated books with such glaring mistakes. Compare with the second one."
Captioning a picture of one of the pages of the book, KICD cautioned parents and guardians against falling prey to the buying of such books.
From the picture, parts of the human body have been wrongly labelled, hence feared to misinform pupils.
They further directed: "Don't fall into the whims of people with vested interests who smile when you like, retweet & share without a second thought!"
The State Corporation also called on the parents to be vigilant on checking the books before they purchase.
Earlier this year, the corporation warned parents against buying a book that included homosexual partnerships as a social structure.
In a thread of tweets, KICD stated that the book had not been approved for the new curriculum.
"Please be wary of misleading information: This book is not part of books approved by KICD.
"Parents and teachers are advised to confirm with us the approved books to avoid buying wrong books, like this one," KICD tweeted.
However, representatives from KICD told Kenyans.co.ke that they could not reveal the name of the textbook as the list of approved school books would only be launched by Education CS Fred Matiang'i.
