Kenyans were on Friday amused by an incident Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua was involved in while on a tour of Kisii County, that seemed hard to believe.

Inaccurate news accounts had alleged that Dr Mutua and the Kisii County deputy governor Joash Maangi had fallen into the river, leading to hilarious social media posts that brought back his past as filmmaker.

Here are some of the comments that were shared on the topics, "Governor Mutua", "Ogembo" and "Kisii".

Governor Mutua would later call out the journalists who propagate fake new that he and the DG had fallen into the river while taking selfies.

He further added that he had reported Standard Media Group journalist Geoffrey Mosoku to the DCI for being the first to publish the inaccurate report.

He invoked the newly instituted Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Bill of 2018 as the law that would be used to convict those who made the claims.
