Sonko Accuses KRA of Demanding Ksh36 Million From Wife Primrose Mbuvi

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has disclosed that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) had demanded Ksh36 Million from his wife, Primrose Mbuvi in tax arrears.

During an interview with KTN News, Sonko claimed that his wife and members of his family had been harassed and the taxes claim on his wife was the latest incidences.

"My wife was slapped with a letter from KRA regarding a business she was doing ten years ago in Buruburu running matatus and clubs and she should pay Sh36 Million.

"They even raised a charge sheet against my wife and my sister to be charged in Kibera courts," he stated.

He alleged that these problems were caused by Interior PS Karanja Kibicho for he had failed to give in to the demands of the powerful civil servant.

"I will not give in to his demands, I know my rights, I have principles and I know the law.

"He is not above the law, and he has predicted my death, he said he is going to use his powers, the police and intelligence to ensure he kills me within a day," Sonko conveyed.

Addressing matters on his planned impeachment by the Jubilee officials, the Governor declared that he was not scared adding that there were procedures in place to facilitate that.

"I have a good working relationship with MCAs and they have an oversight role in my government and they have distanced themselves from calls to impeach me by Jubilee Vice-chair David Murathe.

"If they do, I am not the first governor to be impeached, there is a process where the motion will be raised in the county assembly, then the Senate and later on the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court and so I have no reason to fear," he stated.
