Esther Passaris Reveals What Excited Her During National Prayer Breakfast

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Thursday divulged that when she heard Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka called forth to deliver his speech during the National Prayer Breakfast, she was thrilled by his presence at the event.

Speaking during an interview in NTV after the ceremony, Ms Passaris exclaimed: "I had just texted Kalonzo in the morning asking him if he would make it to the event but he didn't reply. So when I heard him called to the front, I was so excited to see him there."

According to the ODM leader who disclosed that she had never met the NASA co-principal since the handshake, Kalonzo's decision to attend the breakfast was a great gesture as it will push the other principals to also join forces with the Opposition leader and the President.

"I am sure today he felt the same way Raila did during the Harambee meeting. That time it was our leader meeting President Kenyatta alone.  Today, he came alone to the event, unlike the other leaders. Though I really wish Mudavadi and Wetangula were also present," Passaris expressed while emphasizing the importance of the leaders being united.

The Wiper leader was among the leaders who attended the 16th Annual National Prayer Day that took place at the Safari Park.

The event was filled with calls of forgiveness as politicians steered clear off politics, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta who asked forgiveness from the Opposition leaders Raila Odinga and Mr Musyoka.

"We have campaigned against one other, we have said nasty things about one another, we hurt one another and on my behalf ndugu (brother) I ask for your forgiveness and I tender my apology," Uhuru announced.

In addition to that, the Head of State also caught his deputy off guard by handing him the microphone asking him to apologise to Kalonzo.

“So as my brother Kenyatta has said and maybe I am the one most accused, I want my brother Stephen, on behalf of all our teams and following in the footsteps of our leaders, I want to ask for forgiveness and on my behalf, I tender my apology,” Ruto requested.

Following the suit, Kalonzo also commended the President for his efforts in the fight against corruption.

"This resolve to fight corruption is absolutely unique and we stand with you as you make sure that we get rid of this ghost called corruption completely… My brother William, you are hustler number one, I forgive you and may God bless you," Kalonzo exclaimed.
