Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's Office to be Investigated Over Misappropriation of Funds

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has been urged to investigate Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's office over misappropriation of funds.

According to the Baringo County Assembly members the senator's office has not been functional hence questions raised over the usage of the funds allocated to it.

Led by the Assembly Majority Chief Whip Reuben Chepsongol, the County legislators on Thursday noted that the office which is located in the County Assembly premises has remained dormant for years.

Mr Chepsongol further noted that the liaison office had been given a notice of one month by the Assembly to explain why the office remains closed in most occasions, failure to which they will have that space relocated.

"We are not issuing this notice as Jubilee leaders but in the interest of services that need to be delivered by the office to the community. For how long should the local residents keep coming to this office but not get services," posed the Assembly Chief Whip.

The decision to call for a probe into operations of the office has since triggered a bitter exchange between Jubilee-allied MCAs and those from the KANU party which chaired by Gideon Moi.

Additionally, Mr Chepsongol expressed that reaching out to the EACC was their last resort as all their previous notices have been ignored by the officials running the office.

KANU Ward Representatives protested the directive and accused Deputy President William Ruto of having a hand in the eviction.

Ameja Zelemoi, Churro-Amaya MCA, and deputy speaker stated: "They will not succeed with their plans. If anything, they should go back and collect signatures from members of the public to impeach the senator than engage in sideshows."

His sentiments were backed by other MCAs who are not affiliated to the Jubilee Party.
