High Court Judge James Wakiaga on Monday remanded two police officers charged with the murder of Janet Wangui at Nairobi's City Park on May 20.
The two officers, William Chirchir and Godfrey Kirui, were charged with the murder of the woman whose husband is city businessman George Kirubi.
They, however, denied the charges and pleaded with the court to release them on bail as they awaited the trial of the case.
Lead prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki told the court that a mental assessment of both accused persons showed that they were fit to stand trial.

She further asked the court to deny the bail application and instead detain the suspects at the Industrial Area Remand Prison as the prosecution awaited some victim impact results.
"We oppose bail because we are still waiting for a victim impact report and we have not yet been supplied with the defence affidavit of opposing bail," she explained.
Defence lawyer Ham Langat, however, argued that bail is a constitutional right for the two, further requesting for them to be held at the police station where they were accused.
"The prosecution has not filed any documents in court to show why the accused should be denied bail.
"Gigiri is the station where the accused have been reporting and it will only be fair enough if they are remanded in that area," he argued.
Judge Wakiaga ruled in favour of the prosecution and ordered that the two officers be held at Industrial Area for eight days.
He further scheduled for the pre-bail report to be submitted on June 19 as the bail application is heard and determined.
14 witnesses have sworn affidavits ahead of the commencement of the trial hearings on November 20.
