Trailer Collides With Matatu Killing 2 Passengers Along Muhoroni-Kisumu Road.

A trailer which collided with a matatu led to the death of two people on Tuesday.

According to the police, one person died on the spot while the second person succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

The accident which occurred on the  Muhoroni-Kisumu road occurred after the trailer which was ferrying sugarcane collided with a Molo line Nissan Matatu.

Muhoroni Deputy county commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia stated that six people were rushed to St Benedict's hospital in Muhoroni where they were nursing serious injuries.

Eyewitnesses narrated how the two vehicles rolled after the collision before the trailer caught fire.

The Muhoroni Deputy county commissioner stated that the truck was suspected to have been on a free gear during the accident.

Elsewhere, another two people died and 15 others injured after a Moyale bound bus crashed at the Subuiga blackspot in Buuri, Meru.

Those who had minor injuries were rushed to Kirua Mission hospital while those in critical condition were admitted to Isiolo Hospital.

Buuri OCPD Joseph Obara revealed that the driver of the bus lost control and crashed hours after midnight.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in there 2017/2018 report indicated that passengers constitute the second highest number of fatalities on Kenyan roads.

In the first ten months of 2017, passenger deaths constitute 22% of all fatalities on Kenyan roads.
