DP William Ruto Accused of Taking Over CS James Macharia's Job

William Ruto has been accused of absconding his work as the Deputy President and taking over the duties not assigned to him.

On Monday, Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi claimed that Ruto had literally taken over the role of Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.

Mwinyi mentioned that the DP is either interfering with Macharia’s job or the latter is lax on his duties thus giving Ruto a chance to run the show.

“The Deputy President has been opening road projects in the country which is the work of transport ministry officials,” the legislator stated.

There are more important duties in Ruto’s post that he can perform instead of burdening himself with trivial commissioning of road projects in a docket under an able CS,” he continued.

He further questioned why Ruto had settled on launching small projects which are normally reserved for Cabinet Secretaries.

The legislator was addressing the public during a fact-finding tour at the Bomu Primary and Secondary Schools in Mombasa County.

He also challenged the Cabinet Secretaries to step up and not to allow politicians to use them for political gains.

Ruto has toured the coastal region several times where he launched several road projects in Kwale county.

Speaking in a different forum, the DP defended himself citing that he has the constitutional mandate to inspect and kick-start projects which include roadworks.
