Motorcycle Rider's Body, Knife Found Near Governor Amason Kingi's Residence

The body of a boda boda rider and a knife believed to have been used in the murder were on Tuesday discovered metres away from Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi's residence.

It was discovered along Old Ferry Road in the early hours of the morning.

Fishermen heading back home stumbled upon the body at around 6 am.

It is believed that the rider only identified as Gift was killed by a passenger he ferried from Kibaoni stage at around 11 pm on Monday night.

His motorcycle was also stolen.

The fishermen immediately informed village elder Khamis Juma who reached out to the area chief.

Juma decried rising insecurity in the area as he called for installation of streetlights up to the old ferry landing site.

"We have witnessed several incidences of insecurity in this area because it is very dark during the night. Street lights will help," he stated.

Kilifi Police Boss Patrick Njoroge revealed that they were working with a company which installed a tracking device on the slain rider's motorcycle as they promised thorough investigations.

“The rider had several cuts from a sharp object. We have scanty information but we are liaising with the company which installed a tracking device on the motorcycle. We hope to make arrests soon," he disclosed.
