Journalist Dennis Omondi Succumbs to Cancer

Former NTV journalist Dennis Omondi Musundi succumbed to cancer on Friday after a long battle and three rounds of chemotherapy.

The journalist had been diagnosed with Acute Leukemia at the Kenyatta National Hospital and was in search of a bone marrow donor.

Dennis, who only became a father in May 2018, had been away in India for treatment and had only come back to the country in early June.

The journalist had made headlines with his medical appeal for Ksh6.5 Million that was needed for his treatment. The fund managed to raise Ksh5.5 Million.

An avid social media user, Omondi kept members of the public updated on his progress up until June 25, 2018, when he sent out his last tweet.

"Thank you, God, good Kenyans be blessed for your prayers & financial support. Am coming home to continue with my medication from the after doctors advised so," he had tweeted on June 8.

Dennis had been continuing with treatment for his condition at KNH with friends and colleagues reporting that he had been in high spirits and hopeful all through.

Government official Dennis Itumbi was among the first people to share his condolences with the family of the deceased.

"Dennis Omondi Musundi, we did all we could, we raised money as a Social Media family. You are a fighter! Go well bro, I pray that God strengthens your family.

"You taught us one thing, we can fight, we can raise any amount of money, we are one great family. Sad News," Itumbi tweeted.
