Governor Sonko Reveals Source of His Wealth

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko during the weekend recounted his youthful days narrating the unbelievable details about the source of his wealth.

The governor, at an event broadcast live on the leading Television stations, stated that he was not scared of those opposed to his leadership.

He held that not even a lifestyle audit would scare him even as he continues to use his own resources to help needy youth in Nairobi.

He attributed his wealth to the early ventures and his youthful days hustle as a high school student.

"I started making money a long time ago. I could do business when in high school, sold even land and engaged in dubious deals during those days. That life is now gone, it is now more than 20 years ago. I am now a changed person and that is why I am focused on protecting the properties and public resources for the good of the people of Nairobi," stated Governor Sonko.

He made the remarks when he addressed concerns by youth and casuals at Kangemi. At the event, the governor put some of his administration's top officials and MCAs on the spot castigating them over embezzlement of City Hall funds.

The governor held that he knows the persons behind the loss of public funds and would not face an arrest over their ills.

"I will not be arrested like Governor Ojaamong just because of your theft. I know you and I will make sure you go to jail before that happens to me. Even those who are bribing members of the county assembly to intimidate me I will not spare you. You will go to jail," he warned.

The infuriated Sonko expressed regret that a number of youth who had worked as casuals cleaning the city had been shortchanged by county staff who had amassed wealth through corrupt dealings.

"When I hired you (City Hall Staff) you were slender but right now you have turned wealthy, with potbellies. I will demand that you explain how you've gained so much weight over such a short time," he stated.

At the event, the governor offered to give several casuals money that they would use pending payment of their owed salaries on Monday.

At some point, there was drama at the function as youth struggled to have a share of his money.

Police had to intervene to control the crowd who scrambled to get part of the give-aways.
