The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) wrote to the Nairobi County Assembly seeking crucial information on the local and international trips taken by city MCAs as part of a larger graft probe.
Acting clerk Nancy Mutai confirmed receipt of the letter seeking details of travels undertaken in the financial years ending 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Among the particulars EACC wants to find out include the countries, payments made to specific MCAs and county staff, and the conference facilities.
A list of all pre-qualified suppliers and contractors as well as certified copies of the approved budget and procurement plans and were also requested by EACC Deputy Director of Investigations Humphrey Mahiva.
The trips are among key issues alleged to have led to the impeachment of speaker Beatrice Elachi on September 5 before she was reinstated by the High Court.
A day later, MCAs led a dramatic operation at Elachi's office supposedly to force her out where the matter of trips came again.
Amidst the commotion, some of the ward representatives were heard stating that Elachi had denied them trips to the USA while she flew first-class.
12 MCAs moved to court last week to challenge summons issued by the EACC over the attempted removal.
They include Peter Wahinya, Anthony Karanja, Peter Imwatok, Elias Okumu, Leah Supuka, Ibrahim Hassa,n and Sudan Kavaya.
Others are Nancy Muthami, Laura Mwololo, Doris Ngoyo, Mary Njambi, and Ruth Maingi.
