US Couple Chased With Machetes in Nairobi

A couple from Utah, United States, was on Friday attacked by three Kenyan men with one wielding a machete during a fitness tour along a rough road in Nairobi.

According to a video posted on their social media account, the two, Lauren and Bryant Swenson, did not have enough time to react after they came across a matatu parked along that road.

In a report by US media, the two had taken the rough road as a shortcut to bypass a highway snarl up in one of the city’s major roads

While the four occupants of the vehicle approached the parked Public Service Vehicle (PSV), it slowly started moving revealing three the three armed men.

The three then started running towards their vehicle.

Two Kenyans who were on the passengers' back seats, seeing how serious the situation was, then directed the driver to keep moving.

They suspected that the PSV had been robbed as well.

According to Bryant Swenson’s father, Bryant Swenson Senior, his son did not have any choice at the time but to try and drive past the robbers.

“He said his window was down and when they saw them coming, he decided to buy some time in order to roll up his window,” Bryant Swenson Snr told a US media Outlet.

Kenyan Police officers, however, arrived later and a shot was fired but no one was harmed in the incident.

The couple moved to Kenya two years ago and have been profiling all their experiences in the country on social media and are set to launch a gym in Karen.
