5 Suspects Arrested with Fake Money, Licences, Certificates and KDF Calling Letters In Eldoret

Uasin Gishu County Law enforcement officers nabbed five suspects for printing fake currency, KDF calling letters and certificates.

This was after they carried out a raid at a house in Kapkaren Estate, Eldoret.

The operation was led by Paul Ruto, Governor Jackson Mandago’s security adviser.

During the raid, the officers nabbed machines used for printing fake money, computers used during the operation, fake college certificates and fake title deeds, among other documents.

The raid comes after many Eldoret residents reported incidents where they were conned by the syndicate.

The officers managed to nab the suspects after a resident reported that he had been offered a job at the county government, but had been asked to collect the letter for a fee. They then followed the complainant when he went to collect his letter in disguise.

"The matter came to our notice after a resident told us he had been offered an employment letter at the county government for a fee. We arrested the suspects when the complainant went to collect the letter at a house in Eldoret,” Ruto narrated.

He confirmed that the suspects had been conducting the operations for quite some time, printing fake licenses and stickers that had cost the Uasin Gishu County Government millions of shillings.

The security boss also updated that they had forwarded the matter to the police who were conducting a thorough investigation to nab more suspects involved in the operations.

"We are cautioning Eldoret residents to be wary of conmen who pretend to be senior county staff who are in a position to offer employment. Such services can be accessed directly at the county offices and not through brokers," the governor's security adviser urged residents.
