A general aviation aircraft crashed at a forest near Kindaruma Airstrip, in Masinga, Machakos County on Saturday.
The plane, Cessna 152 II, used primarily for flight training and personal use, crashed in a thicket a few minutes after taking off from the airstrip.
According to Masinga OCPD Francis Siror, the plane was carrying trainees of the Flight Training Centre in Nairobi.
He, however, revealed that the two people who were on board escaped unhurt.
It is reported that the owners of the plane and officials from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority were expected to visit the crash site later in the day.
In a similar incident in November 2018, a light aircraft crashed into an electric post, in Malindi injuring one person.
According to reports, the plane, a Cessna 152 failed to achieve the required altitude during take-off causing it to clash into a post in Furunzi area.
Eyewitnesses told journalists that the accident occurred at around 10:30am.
Confirming the incident, Malindi International Airport manager, Mohamed Karama stated that a pilot trainee who was commandeering the plane was rescued and taken to Tawfique Hospital for treatment.
He noted that the plane had only one occupant at the time of the crash.
