Deputy President William Ruto finally confessed that the Jubilee Party was plummeting. He, further accused the Orange Democratic Movement leader, Raila Odinga, for stirring the turmoil within the party.
People Daily reported that during the burial of Senator Mithika Linturi's father on Tuesday, September 17, in Igembe South, Meru County, Ruto accused politicians of pushing for a referendum for their own selfish gain, adding that the move had birthed the two factions in the party - Kieleweke and Tanga tanga
"Yes there is a rift in Jubilee fuelled by political factions, some for punguza mizigo and others for ongeza mzigo initiatives. All these confusion has brought trouble in Jubilee.
"You all know what is happening on matters of the constitution. The champions of change of the constitution are known. This is not the business of Jubilee but other people who are well known to Kenyans," Ruto lashed out while lamenting over Raila's relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta, which brought about the Building Bridges Initiative.
Ruto responded to Meru Governor, Kiraitu Murungi, who cried out that Jubilee is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and needs urgent medical attention.
"I want to ask leaders including my brother Kiraitu Murungi, not to lose hope in the party because the small issues will be sorted out," Ruto assured.
Nairobi Senator, Johnson Sakaja, during JKLive show on Citizen TV on Wednesday, September 12, 2019, stated that Jubilee was broken and efforts to revive it were futile.
"Jubilee is not dead but it’s ailing and it can be treated and rejuvenated. We formed the party with the thought that 20 years later we will still have it, but differences have risen, Sakaja opined.
The tanga tanga faction, allied to the DP, has been attacking the handshake between President Kenyatta and Odinga. They have even planned a countrywide tour to stage mega rallies to drum up support for the DP ahead of 2022, while accusing Uhuru of betraying them.
Kieleweke, on the other hand, has been preaching Uhuru's message of peace and unity and has been rallying support for BBI and the Big 4 Agenda.
