Uhuru Breaks His Own Rule Minutes After Warning Governors

In any given moment as with every human, backtracking on a set rule is a common occurrence and this often applies to politicians who have to tailor their messaging to their many audiences.

President Uhuru Kenyatta fell victim to his own set standards while launching multiple projects in different locations on a single day.

While commissioning the construction of the JKIA-to-Westlands Expressway, the head of state allowed the politicians present among them Governors Mike Sonko (Nairobi) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) to address the residents under one condition.

Uhuru expressly stated that he would not condone any political talk from the leaders when he handed them the microphone to speak.

Mimi nitawapatia mic lakini wakiongea siasa duni nitawanyang’anya (I will hand over the microphone to you but if you engage in politics, I will take it away)" a tough-talking Uhuru warned.

However, while launching the SGR Phase 2A in Kajiado, at the Ngong Station, the Kenyatta broke the rule he'd issued earlier in the day of steering clear of politics.

He delved into politics urging residents to be smart when electing leaders and not to accept divisive talk from the politicians only out to benefit themselves.

Wanasiasa wanakuja wanatufurusha wanatupiginasha. Na bado sio damu yao au ya mabibi zao au ya watoto wao inamwagika. Ni damu ya mwananchi ambaye anajaribu kutafuta namna ya kuishi katika nchi yake.

(Politicians come and divide us, turn us against each other. In the end, their family members are safe from the bloodshed they cause)" Uhuru conveyed flanked by Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku on the podium.

He complimented the Kajiado politicians for not engaging in divisive politics stating, "We have heard conflicts in different parts of the country apart from the people in Ngong where you have accepted everyone."
